v1.3 Shipped: What Actually Changed
The nine fixes that make up Diamond Legend v1.3 — from team identity through minor-league sim — explained in plain language.
Version 1.3 is the biggest logic and stability pass we've done since launch. It's not one flashy feature — it's nine underlying fixes that make the whole game feel like it's finally telling one coherent story instead of nine separate ones. Here's what shipped and why each one matters.
1. Team identity is now a single object
Before v1.3, a team's name, city, and abbreviation were re-derived in half a dozen places — the standings screen, the trade screen, the schedule generator — and they didn't always agree. You'd see "OAK" on the standings and something else in the transaction log for the same club. Now every view reads from one canonical FranchiseIdentity object, and legacy saves get migrated on load.
2. Player releases have real teeth
You can now release any player from any of the four levels. If they're on a guaranteed contract, the release screen shows the dead money hit against your cap before you confirm. Bad free-agent signings finally cost something.
3. Coaching hire pool
The Replace button on the coaching screen now opens a real pool of available coaches filtered by role — hitting, pitching, bench, bullpen. Coaches have specialties that actually affect development. And you can't hire past your coaching budget.
4. Trade salary validation
Every proposed trade now shows post-trade payroll for both teams. If accepting the trade would put you above the cap, the button is disabled with an explanation. AI GMs follow the same rule — no more phantom trades from teams that couldn't actually afford them.
5. Offseason boundary
Completed trades and draft picks now persist through the season transition. Lineups and rotations for returning players are preserved. Injuries carry over. The offseason is now a boundary between two connected seasons, not a full-state reset.
6. Minor-league daily simulation
Your AAA, AA, and A affiliates now play every day. Prospects accumulate stats. Grades change based on performance. Every night you get a Farm Report notification summarizing what happened downstream.
7. Simulation controls
Sim Week and Sim Season now respect pause conditions. A major injury (WAR >= 2.0), a roster compliance violation, or a lineup that references a player no longer on your active roster will pause the sim mid-run and jump you to the screen that needs your attention.
8. Transaction log dashboard widget
The dashboard now shows your five most recent moves — waivers, promotions, releases, trades, signings — with the source tag (owner, AI, cascade, emergency) so you can see at a glance what the engine did while you slept.
9. Strategy validation banner
If your batting order or rotation references a player who's been demoted, traded, or released, a banner tells you exactly which slot is broken and links you to the strategy screen to fix it.
What's next
v1.4 begins the Organization redesign — each of your four affiliates gets a full club identity, a home city, a schedule, and its own standings. The minors stop being an appendix and start being real teams.
